Matthew Bourne's The Midnight Bell comes to Brighton, bringing the smoky backdrop of 1930s London to the Theatre Royal! The visionary behind much-lauded contemporary ballet adaptations of Swan Lake, Edward Scissorhands and The Red Shoes among others, has spent over three decades redefining dance theatre, earning him awards and acclaim as one of the most influential voices in contemporary dance. Premiering to critical acclaim in 2021 and garnering multiple National Dance Award nominations, The Midnight Bell is yet another testament to Bourne's genius ability to transform complex stories into captivating movement.
Slip into the shadowy corners of Soho and Fitzrovia, where the city's pubs and hidden alleys draw Londoners with the promise and peril of a drink, a dance, and the chance for connection. The Midnight Bell itself, a fictional pub inspired by the works of English novelist Patrick Hamilton, is the centre stage for a cast of lost souls: strangers, lovers, and broken hearts.
